What a fun remodel project this was! We took an Old World kitchen and gave it a modern French country flair in Plano, TX!We kept the existing cabinets as well as the appliances, except for the refrigerator. As you can see from the photos below, we changed everything else! When I create a design plan for a kitchen I like to start with the countertop material. Once that has been decided, everything else will fall into place.I selected the Steel Gray granite for all of the countertops as well as the island. Then, my client wanted the island to be a different color and she shared an image from a magazine. Isn't the aqua color pretty? As you can see, we didn't paint the crown molding or the baseboard. This molding travels into the dining area and family room. The client did not want to paint the cabinets in the family room so we kept the crown and baseboards as-is. We did paint the shoe molding which is up against the cabinets. My client also requested a pretty vent hood. So I designed this charming baby! I wanted to paint it aqua, too, but it looks good in white and let's the tile mural sing. After selecting the countertop material, island color, and the hood; the tile mural was selected. I narrowed down about four different murals for this project and my client chose this one. It is my favorite and it's perfect in this kitchen! After the pattern was selected, I chose the colors and the placement of those colors. This tile is customizable! You can also select the stone. This stone is carrara marble.I ordered sample tiles which looked great and then I was able to select the subway tile. The subway tile and chair rail tile are made to replicate the handmade tile from 19th-century artisans.Lighting is important! The right size, color, and style make the room! I selected the chandelier and pendants next. The sinks, faucets, cabinet hardware and cabinet paint color came next for this remodel. My sweet client and her husband love their new kitchen! It's so happy and light! What do you think? Could you cook and entertain in this charming kitchen?Smiles,HollyProfessional photos by Twin Shoot PhotographyMany thanks to Kangaroo Contractors who made this remodel possible!
